ecovantage have begun work with Methven in 2009 to assist them identify, manage and reduce their operational environmental impacts.

Operating out of Australia and New Zealand, Methven is a long established, large supplier and leading designer of showerheads, faucets and hot water valves. They have developed some impressive water efficient products and technologies and have also put substantial sustainability principles in place for their packaging and promotional materials. Their environmental focus has now turned to their office and warehouse operations which lead them to engage ecovantage to perform energy waste water and greenhouse gas emissions assessments of Australian operations.

The first stage of the project was to perform a greenhouse gas emissions analysis of all Australian operations including offices, a warehouse and mobile personnel. The second stage included an energy, waste and water assessment of the Melbourne warehouse and head office to identify efficiency opportunities and provide cost benefit analysis of proposed improvements. Methven are now setting out on the third stage of the project and are in the process of defining their impact reduction implementation plan. They aim to begin putting in place targets and strategies to reduce as much of their operational impacts as commercially possible over 2010. They are underway with receiving formal quotes for rainwater harvesting and reuse, plus some major energy efficiency measures.

ecovantage will continue to work with Methven to guide them towards a more sustainable future.
