ecovantage will shortly run a Home Energy Saving Down Light trial. Halogen down lights are widely
used in homes but are energy intensive, expensive to run and generate a lot of heat which can cause
house fires. ecovantage will partner with local government, including the City of Melbourne, City of
Port Phillip and the Center for Design to run the trial. Householders participating in the trial will have
their halogen down lights exchanged for energy saving alternatives. Householders will be surveyed
to find out how satisfied they are with the energy saving lights and whether they will continue to use
them after the trial.
The home energy saving down light trial is supported by the Victorian Government Sustainability
Fund, managed by Sustainability Victoria.
