WHY SWITCH TO LED LIGHTING?
If you could spend $5,800 now and then save $3,800 every year for the next 9 years, would that be a sound investment? Of course!
Well, that's exactly what a Sydney gymnasium did by upgrading their fluorescent tubes to LED panels. They expect to save more than $30,000 over the rated lifetime of the new lights.
This is just one reason why businesses all over Australia are switching to LED lighting. Here are some additional reasons to make the change:
SAVE ELECTRICITY COSTS
Your business could save up to 90% on your lighting costs after you switch to LED lighting.
SAVE MAINTENANCE COSTS
The cost and hassle of maintaining old inefficient lighting simply doesn't exist with high quality LED lighting, given its long lifespan.
We ensure that your upgrade results in a more pleasant work environment where your lighting switches on instantly, is flicker-free, emits no ultraviolet light and meets the Australian Lighting Standards.
FREE UP BUDGET
Slashing your overheads allows you to invest in growth activities such as recruiting new talent, providing incentive for employees or investing in lead generation activities.
RECENT COMMERCIAL LIGHTING CASE STUDIES
Acer commissioned Ecovantage to undertake an energy-efficient lighting upgrade at its large facility in Homebush, resulting in estimated energy savings of $30,000 per year, with a payback period of only 7 months.
Following the upgrade of lighting throughout the JCDecaux multi-level office and warehouse in Alexandria, significant savings were realised with a 77% energy reduction in lighting, saving 79 tonnes of c02 per year.
Upon expanding into a new facility to increase their production, Woodrow Kilns engaged Ecovantage to reduce their lighting electricity costs. After replacing over 90 fittings, a 75% reduction in lighting costs was achieved, with a payback period of just 4 months.
LONELY PLANET UPGRADE
HERE'S HOW THEY'RE TRAVELLING
Ecovantage delivered a customised lighting upgrade within a competitive budget and we are very happy with the results. Lonely Planet was able to contribute its small part to the challenges of climate change we face by saving CO2 emissions.
The quality of professional advice received was outstanding. Implementation was very quick and easy to deal with. Comparing the bills and usage, we saved over 70% in energy costs since the lighting was installed.
The average cost per day has gone from approximately $18.04 to $5.10.
RETURN ON INVESTMENT - WHAT'S REALLY POSSIBLE?
Is it really possible to achieve a worthwhile return on investment?
The short answer is YES.
The return depends primarily on:
- your hours of operation; longer hours = faster return
- how much you are paying for electricity
- the difference in energy consumption between the lighting being replaced and the lighting being installed
- whether a government incentive applies
- the level of government incentive (varies by state).
The examples below show the return achieved by two small-to-medium sized businesses in very different industries.
Office & Warehouse Reduces Lighting Costs By 77%
A large office, warehouse and depot will save $27,000 on electricity every year, following an energy-efficient lighting upgrade.
A total of 147 fittings were replaced, resulting in a 77% energy reduction on lighting, with 79 tonnes of c02 saved per year.
When maintenance costs are included, the payback period on their investment comes to only 8.5 months, with the estimated lifetime savings of $369,000.
Warehouse & Workshop Achieve Payback in 7 Months
A large workshop and warehouse upgraded a total of 426 light fittings, to achieve an estimated 76% reduction in lighting energy use.
The new high bay lights were fitted with combined daylight/motion sensors, automatically deactivating the lights when ambient light is sufficient or when the space is not occupied.
This lighting upgrade will result in total estimated savings of more than $30,000 per year, with payback achieved in just 7 months.
TANGIBLE ENERGY SAVINGS
Whilst we always expect to save our customers significant amounts on energy and maintenance, this particular result was outstanding.
We upgraded the common area lighting at Landing and Tors, a residential building in the Sydney suburb of Rozelle. The graph on the left is the customer's electricity bill which clearly shows the significant reduction in energy consumption from January 2015.

INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY SERVICES
Integrated Technology Services (ITS), a nation-wide ATM service provider, undertook a lighting upgrade in their warehouse and office facilities. After replacing their low bay and fluorescent tubes to LED, the company's first electricity bill since the upgrade shows that energy consumption has been halved.
THE DOWNTOWNER ON LYGON
Ecovantage upgraded the The Downtowner on Lygon's downlights and fluorescent tubes to energy-efficient LED lights. Due to the significantly lower wattage of the LED lighting, the hotel has reduced its energy consumption from lighting by a massive 78%.
TORS AND LANDINGS
This Rozelle strata title building achieved a remarkable reduction in energy usage of 60% after upgrading the common area lighting. The lighting upgrade will also provide substantial savings in their ongoing maintenance costs.
WHY UPGRADE NOW?
COMMERCIAL LIGHTING REBATES
Incentives for businesses to upgrade to energy efficient lighting are available in these states:
- NSW - Energy Savings Scheme (ESS)
- VIC - Victorian Energy Upgrades Scheme (VEU)
- SA - Retailer Energy Efficiency Scheme (REES).
These schemes reduce the upfront cost of transitioning to energy-efficient lighting. A change of state government, however, could mean the scheme no longer exists. So, now is the time to take advantage of these incentives.
"The results have been a great success. From start to finish the process was professionally handled by Ecovantage with ease, including the obtaining of government rebates, which significantly reduced our up-front cost and investment.
Our actual electricity usage has decreased by over 30%."
