ESS & PDRS Changes: Upcoming Activities

On 1 July 2026, IPART released its latest ESS and PDRS Rule update, introducing several significant changes across activities. This Feature is part of a 3-piece series, including ESS & PDRS Changes: Big Batteries for EPCs & OEMs, and ESS & PDRS Changes: Air Conditioning & HVAC.

Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G)

As the first of its kind in Australia, a new V2G activity has been introduced under the PDRS, but remains inactive until further notice.

Once active, vehicle onboarding could generate approximately 505 PRCs – an incentive of approximately $1,262 (at $2.50 / PRC).

No action is required yet from installers, but this gives the market visibility of future incentives for bidirectional EV charging.

Potential New Activity: Insulation.

IPART has confirmed that insulation activities are not returning, yet. Further targeted consultation with industry stakeholders will take place to refine the proposed approach for any activities that are reintroduced.

Ecovantage has been active in insulation for many years in South Australia, and are onboarding installers in Victoria for Activity 48. If you are interested you can find more information and sign-up here.
