- Australian Home Energy Report: energy efficiency and electrification worth $82 billion
- VEU Registry shutdown scheduled to commence next week
Australian Home Energy Report Highlights Energy Efficiency Opportunity.
Wednesday this week saw the 2025 Australian Home Energy Report released with key findings including;
- Australians increasingly recognise the importance of energy efficiency, yet knowledge gaps, financial constraints, and uncertainty remain key barriers to widespread adoption.
- The majority of Australians (68%) see reducing energy bills as the primary reason for making home energy upgrades, while 55% also recognise the environmental benefits.
- The findings emphasise the need for stronger education, policy changes and financial incentives to drive widespread adoption of energy-efficient technologies.
Commissioned by PropTrack, in conjunction with retailer giant Origin, the report concluded that the projected spend on home energy efficiency over the next five years presents a major opportunity to make a meaningful contribution towards the energy transition. However, without better education, financial support, and industry commitment, many households may remain locked out of the benefits.
VEU Registry Shutdown to Commence Next Week.
The Victorian regulator’s transition to its new online portal is set to commence next Friday, 23 May.
To allow for preservation of data and a smooth transition to the new Registry, the current Registry will enter read-only mode – meaning Accredited Persons (APs) such as Ecovantage, will be unable to create or trade VEECs until the new Registry opens – currently scheduled for Tuesday, 3 June.
The regulator has highlighted the importance of submitting all 2024 vintage installations prior to the shutdown due to expected lengthy delays once the new Registry is up and running.
At Ecovantage, we consistently analyse market activity, policy changes, consultation releases, and creation rates in conjunction with wider landscape activity. This allows us to keep our clients at the forefront of all relevant changes, and to leverage the advantage that this presents. Thank you for your continued support, and please reach out if you have any general or project-specific questions.
