Victorian Government Announces Insulation Incentive to Slash Energy Bills

The Allan Labor Government has today unveiled a new initiative to help Victorians combat rising energy costs and improve household comfort. The program will provide significant discounts on ceiling insulation installations, making it more affordable for families to upgrade their homes and reduce energy consumption.

With the initiative set to start in early 2026, Ecovantage will be enabling Victorian residents access to these incentives through the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program.

The incentives are expected to cut the average cost of ceiling insulation installation in half, from $3,000 to $1,500. This initiative is particularly crucial given that almost 60% of Victorian homes currently lack adequate ceiling insulation, leading to missed energy bill savings of over $400 per year on average.

The program will prioritise safety and quality by implementing new installation standards and an insulation safety and quality assurance regime. This will ensure that only high-quality materials are used and that installations are carried out by well-trained professionals. Solar Victoria will collaborate with industry stakeholders, unions, and training organisations to oversee the program’s implementation and expand the insulation installer workforce.

Premier Jacinta Allan emphasised the importance of this initiative in helping families cope with the rising cost of living, stating that it will make homes more comfortable year-round while significantly reducing energy bills.

Minister for Energy and Resources Lily D’Ambrosio highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring safe and high-quality installations and underscored the broader benefits of the VEU program in driving down energy consumption and costs for all Victorians.
