Commercial Lighting Case Study - Warehouse & Office
JCDecaux Reducing Lighting Costs By 77%

Lighting Energy Savings
JCDecaux commissioned Ecovantage to undertake an energy efficient, lighting upgrade at its multi-level office and warehouse in Alexandria, NSW.
The multi-level office at JCDecaux required a standard one-for-one replacement of all recessed T8 fittings, which, taking into account the magnetic ballasts, used 88 watts per fitting.
Significant energy savings were achieved through the implementation of the 28W Executive Panel.
Depot & Warehouse
The depot required a new highbay lighting layout to replace the existing battens, including in a storage area in the back of the warehouse which was under-lit.
The 'poster room' required a high level of lighting and colour rendering (CRI). Due to the cleaning of equipment and street furniture/installation, all fittings needed in the depot and poster room needed to be IP65, spray and dust proof.
Ecovantage redesigned the depot lighting based on highbays. The benefits were a more consistent spread of light, lower electrical consumption and fewer installed fittings (28 units total). Previously the depot was lit by multiple rows of inefficient 58W T8 Twin fittings (45 units total). This solution was modelled using DIALux software and installed with client approval.
Key Benefits of the Lighting Upgrade
- A total of 147 fittings were replaced, resulting in a 77% energy reduction on lighting, with 79 tonnes of C02 saved per year.
- With five year warranties JCDecaux has the peace of mind of knowing they will not have to replace their lights for several years to come - no more changing globes / tubes on a regular basis.
- We estimate that JCDecaux will save $27K in energy and maintenance over the course of one year, with a total lifetime estimated savings of $369K.
- Total payback period of just 0.7 months.
