Electric Vehicles with Rob Nap’Bleidick

Meet Rob, Ecovantage’s Business Development Manager based in our Queensland team.

Ecovantage has had the pleasure of working with Rob since the formalisation of our branch in Queensland. His role is a little diverse as he assists Aaron, our Renewables General Manager, in all and any areas he feels he can use his expertise and experience. More specifically, Rob works with prospective and existing clients and group partners within the Commercial & Industrial space. Rob has been lucky enough to be driving one of our Queensland EV fleet for the past 1 and a half years!

Find out about Rob’s journey so far…

What type of electric car do you drive?

Hyundai Kona

How long have you been driving your electric car?

This one for just on a year and another for 2 months prior to that

How many kilometres do you get per full charge?

The reason we chose the Kona was that it has one of the longest ranges at 520 km

How much does it cost to run?

Depending on how and where you charge it. As a company we have a .05 cent per km rebate. So at 520 a full charge it will cost $26.00. If the car is charged at home at say .28 per kW it will cost $17.00

How long does your vehicle take to charge?

Again dependent on the type of charger used. You can use rapid (public) chargers that would fully charge the car in under an hour but they are generally at a more expensive rate. What most people generally don’t realise is that you can charge an EV from a standard powerpoint at home. 95% of my charging is at home, across the weekend from a standard power point. Its slow charge but if I plug it in on Friday night its fully charged and ready to go by Monday morning

What is your favourite feature(s) of your EV?

Just how they drive. The technology is fantastic. They are heavy and stable on the road while being quick and agile.

How much are you estimated to save per year due to switching to an EV?

About $4,000 a year plus service cost savings

Where can you charge your EV and do you find these spots easy to come by?

All EV drivers download a number of charging apps on their phones. This will show you where the nearest charging station is. They are pretty much everywhere. It has never been a problem to find one if I need one. Other than that as said from home, we have the convenience of having a charger at work. But for me I never really use it.

Please sum up your overall experience/opinion on your EV.

Just great technology, great experience and really impressive. Silent, responsive, safe and a pleasure to drive.
