What Can Delay a Successful Solar Renewable Energy Certificate Claim?

Whether you’re claiming Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) for Solar as an end user, EPC or Installer, time is always of the essence. There are a variety of factors required for each different type of REC for both Small-Scale and Large-Scale Solar arrays. At Ecovantage, we guide you from start to finish through the claim process to make it simple, smooth and successful.

We actively mitigate the risk of any delays that could potentially arise in the process. Here we outline the steps required for Large-Scale Generation Certificates (LGCs), Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) and Small-Scale Technology Certificates (STCs). In each step we highlight the most common causes for a delay, and how we work with you to prevent them. A dedicated Account Manager is assigned to each site to create a single point of contact and ease in the flow of information.

Large-Scale Solar (Over 100kW)

Large-Scale Generation Certificates (LGCs)

1. Proposal Acceptance

The party with rights to the LGCs generated accepts the proposal.

2. Contract Signage and Initial Information

The party with rights to the LGCs generated signs the contract. The EPC, Installer or Customer completes an Initial Information Form which includes 5 fields of simple site information. LGCs are able to be generated from the submission of this form.

3. Detailed Information

Liaise with the Compliance Lead dedicated to your site to gather detailed site information.

What could cause a delay?

  • Delay in completing any forms or the site contract.
  • Incorrect information or data provided.
  • Faults with metering leading to data access issues.
  • Delay in providing the data required.

When should each step be completed for a seamless process?

  • For EPCs and Installers, as soon as the customer signs with you, you sign with us. This ensures that your customer is ensured the best financial outcome from their LGCs.
  • Our qualified team will guide you through all steps to ensure all documentation is gathered and submitted in a timely manner.

Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs)

1. Proposal Acceptance

The party with rights to the VEECs generated accepts the proposal.

2. Contract Signage

The party with rights to the VEECs generated signs the VEEC contract.

3. Liaise with Compliance

The EPC or installer will liaise with the dedicated Compliance Lead to gather all information necessary to gain site approval.

4. Construction and Site Energisation

Once approval is gained for the project, site construction can commence.

5. 12 Month Measurement and Verification (M&V)

Upon energisation, the 12 month M&V period begins where solar generation and consumption values are collected.

6. Approval

Following the M&V period, VEECs are generated and approved.

What could cause a delay?

  • Insufficient information provided in the application phase, or a delay in providing the correct information.
  • Not informing Ecovantage of changes in site activity (Baseline or M&V periods).
  • Major upgrades or changes in site activity during the M&V period.

When should each step be completed for a seamless process?

  • For EPCs and Installers, as soon as the customer signs with you, you sign with us. This ensures that your customer is ensured the best financial outcome for their VEECs.
  • The minimum timeframe required to gain site approval is 14-30 Days, however we recommend starting the process on contract signing.

Small-Scale Solar (Under 100kW)

Small-Scale Technology Certificates (STCs)

1. Enter Site Information

This is made simple with a straightforward entry process and all electronic signatures.

2. Submit for Processing

The Ecovantage compliance team will submit your claim to the Clean Energy Regulator (CER) for approval.

3. Approval and Trade

The STCs are approved in approximately 1-2 weeks. You will receive notification and payment for the certificates upon approval.

What could cause a delay?

  • Poor quality or blurred images.
  • Incorrect site information on application.

Whether your site is LGC, VEEC or STC eligible, our team is dedicated to helping you gain the best outcome for your certificate generation. As Australia’s largest Accredited Certificate Provider, we are experienced in commercial solar certificate generation. At Ecovantage, we guide you from steps one to done through the claim process to make it simple, smooth and successful.
